Born in New Mexico in October 1982, Cypher is a palm reader, artist, and resourceful nomad who has spent over 25 years on the streets. Taken from his family at 15, he found purpose in a life lived on his own terms—as a "mountain man," squatting and surviving with just a backpack.

"Don't give up.

He credits Nomad Alliance for helping him become more active in society and address his concerns in a positive format. A self-taught expert in cryptology and cryptography—which earned him his nickname—Cypher now channels his skills into doing tattoos for small change. His enduring quote is a testament to his journey: "Don't give up.”

Cypher is an indispensable part of the Nomad Alliance team, contributing before becoming our calendar model. During our December “Build a Bigger Table” drive, he cooked a turkey, transported donations on multiple runs, and distributed fliers across streets and shelters throughout the valley. Thanks to efforts like his, our December 2025 drive became the most attended in our five-year history, serving over 600 plates of food.
