Born in 1987, Dustin grew up playing baseball and football, always active and full of drive. Life changed after a serious car accident in his teens, when he was prescribed OxyContin for the pain — a prescription that quickly led to addiction. A graduate of Granite High School, Dustin has spent a total of eight years unhoused, with the past two years living on the streets.
“Live each second for what it is."

Despite the hardships, Dustin holds onto hope and perspective. He admits there’s a certain freedom to life on the streets, but he deeply misses his family — especially his two children — and knows they want nothing more than to see him clean and healthy again. His biggest challenge is finding stable housing, which he recognizes is key to staying sober and rebuilding his life through treatment.
