ABC 4 Utah: Individuals claim police removed homeless people from Liberty Park ahead of Pioneer Day festivities

Ahead of Salt Lake City's Pioneer Day festivities, there have been reports of police officers removing individuals experiencing homelessness from Liberty Park.

The Nomad Alliance was meeting with Jordan, a reporter with ABC 4 Utah to shoot a story about how 7/11s and other gas stations were charging $1 for water refills during the worst heat wave in Utah history. But in talking to our nomads about how hard it was to get water, we realized a big immediate story was brewing. Repeatedly, nomad after nomad at Washington Square told us about Liberty Park just kicking all the homeless out of it's park. We told Jordan. Jordan pivoted the story to this.

We also requested and inspired all three of the nomads interviewed to speak to the news about this flagrant disrespect of the right to public access.
