PRESS RELEASE
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, AUGUST — This Sunday afternoon, the Nomad Alliance, a nonprofit serving the unsheltered, will hold it’s 27th nomad supply drive and drop delivering dozens of car-loads of clothing, shoes, blankets, tents, hygiene items, hot and non-perishable food fas well as offering showers, haircuts and and more directly to streets. A DJ will be playing music and teaching music creation and there will be cotton candy.
But the main focus of this special drive is self defense. At least 45 unsheltered women have been raped and violently beat by two masked men in the last year. One drives an Escalade and the other is a Latino in a sedan. To help vulnerable women protect themselves, a two-time black belt expert will be teaching self defense and the Nomad Alliance will be gifting whistles and other protective remedies.
